ARE YOUR WATER COALESCING FILTER COSTS KILLING YOU?

A well designed fuel system for a diesel engine always contains a water removing unit called a “Coalescing Filter” to protect the sensitive, high pressure, diesel fuel injection equipment. That’s good common sense. But what is a fuel “Filter-Coalescer” and how does it work? It is a very, very fine particulate filter (1/2 micron) that doesn’t tolerate fuel contaminates, weather inorganic or organic contaminates. Contaminates like particulates, gums, varnish, sludges and asphaltenes can cause VERY SHORT filter-coalescer life. It can even shut down your diesel by preventing fuel from getting to the diesel engine. Not good! I have even seen a plugged coalescer analyzed in a lab and flushed with an organic solvent, only to find no particulates (dirt) inside the filter. The black, slimy asphaltenes had shut down the coalescer with out any dirt present.

So how do you prevent these premature plugged coalescers and the high cost of frequent coalescer replacements? You add an “Organic Pre-Filter” before the coalescer that can handle the particulates, remove the gums, varnish, and asphaltenes, and are long lived. That allows the coalescer to remove the water without having to deal with fuel contaminates. That gives you long pre-filter life and coalescer life, good water removal, and a diesel engine without fuel related headaches. Sounds simple, and it is! But, don’t forget, not all pre-filters are organic and only a true organic fuel pre-filter will give you these results and peace of mind.
